Located in the heart of Downtown Seattle.
Right in the middle of downtown with both north
and south wings that tower (almost 50 stories) over the city, Elliott Bay, and
are (the north tower) right next to the Space Needle the Westin is a little
about the downtown location, but almost all about the view.
Typical full service luxury Westin-style amenities. I started staying here some
14 years ago and though its restaurants come & go, the quality of the place
remains pretty constant.
Location, the lobby & bar plus whatever is the latest restaurant holding court
off the lobby (this last time around it was Coldwater Bar&Grill which was a
decent high-end restaurant).
Walking distance to everything from Belltown to downtown. And if you like good
jazz don't forget Dimitriou's Jazz Alley, - one of the best jazz venues in the
US - is just one block down Sixth Ave from the hotel.
But the view is what it is really all about. And the trick is getting the right
rooms.
My recommendations:
South Tower / City View:
Rooms 2961 or 2962.
Stay on the 29th or a higher floor in the South Tower and get a # '61 or # '62
room.
or
North Tower (the best bay / sound and Space Needle view):
rooms 4330, 4430, 4530..
in other words, get a high-floor '30 room in the North tower. Sunset over the
Olympic range and Puget Sound will knock you out, and the bay / sound & Space
Needle view at night is the best.
Lots of the pics on these pages were taken from 4430 North Tower.
Not cheap but worth it.
Next to the Edgewater, the Westin is my favorite Seattle business-travel hotel.
A unique feature of the Westin:
when a stiff gale is blowing in hard from the west off Puget Sound, the North
tower "groans" (the windows) and actually sways & rocks ever so slightly. You
can feel and hear it on the high floors (43 & up).
